UNITY Thesis Project

I want to draw on large paper- relative to the "doodle" projects I did in Julie Langsam's class- for my thesis. I enjoyed working on my doodles and seeing the final image as a whole. They took a long time to do, but turned out great as a whole image.

This was my final project for Drawing I-A. It is at least 5 ft by 6 ft long, done by pen. I love to draw curved lines and make shapes out of them in a consistent or continuing pattern. The final image usually resembles an aquatic organism/s or depicts an aquatic environment. I want to combine this style with my chosen topic, which is the physical and emotional bond between man and woman. I am sketching contrasting shapes and patterns for both genders. Eventually, I will merge these shapes to make a unifying symbol that represents a liking/attraction between the two sexes. People may ask why I chose to depict a heterosexual bond instead of homosexual. This is partially based on my personal preference and experience with men. I am especially interested in the differences between man and woman and the unity that is created like Yin & Yang. Men are more hard and masculine in appearance while women generally have soft and curvy features.

I found a video of a project that is similar to my idea:

My concern is that this will be showing more of my drawing potential rather than my skill in graphic design. I may show the merging of male and female in a book format. On opposite ends, the female and male characteristics will be depicted. They will move towards each other and meet in the middle to create unity.
